Manufactured from galvanised steel, this heavy-duty bosun’s chair has a carry weight of 136kg and aids in safely raising individuals to suspended heights for long periods of time.
Built with a heavy-duty steel frame and fibreglass seat, it’s designed with both comfort and safety in mind, allowing personnel to work efficiently without strain or discomfort.
When using a bosun’s chair, it’s important to also make use of a fall arrest system, including a safety harness as well as a fall arrest block. This ensures the safety of the user in the rare instance that the hoisting line for the bosun’s chair fails.
Once aloft and situated at the working point, the chair should be secured in place with the use of a screw shackle or pole strap to restrict the movement of the chair, allowing the user to work freely and securely. The user should keep all tools in a toolbag that’s either attached to to the chair or the body to reduce the risk of tipping.
Tools should also be secured to a safety line, which prevents damage or injury to personnel below if a tool is dropped.
