To secure a wire rope to a winch, pass the end of your wire rope over the top of the drum toward the rear of the winch. Press the end of the wire rope into the side insert slot and between the clamp jaws. Pull the release lever closed, so the wire clamp jaws close and lock on the end of the wire

Can you replace a winch cable with a rope?

Yes, you can replace a steel cable with a synthetic rope. However, you must ensure the drum surface is smooth and doesn’t have any burrs that could damage the rope

How long does a winch rope last?

The lifespan of a winch rope depends on how frequently you use it and how well you maintain it. If you use your winch rope regularly, you should inspect it after every use and replace it every two to three years. If you use your winch rope less frequently, you should inspect it annually and replace it every five years
